Il clima ha carattere tropicale, con l'influsso dei monsoni estivi: le precipitazioni sono concentrate nel periodo maggio-ottobre, mentre nella restante parte dell'anno soffia il vento caldo che proviene dal Sahara (l'harmattan). Le temperature sono piuttosto elevate, con una media di 27 °C nelle zone costiere e di 30 °C nella zona settentrionale.

The climate is tropical thanks to the influence of summery monsoons; rainfalls are concentrated in the period between May and October and for the rest of the year a hot wind from the Sahara blows (harmattan). Temperatures are quite elevated with an annual average of about 27°C on the coasts and 30°C in the northern area.
