Climate
Il clima del Ciad varia, per la latitudine, dal deserto settentrionale, con meno di 100 mm di piovosità, al tropicale semi-umido, con piogge fino a 1400 mm, nella sezione meridionale. Conseguentemente varia la vegetazione spontanea passando dalle zone desertiche a nord, alle steppe spinose centrali, alle savane con boschi meridionali; tipica la vegetazione di papiro e palma che ricopre le numerosissime isole sabbiose del lago Ciad.
Ciad climate varies, according to the latitude, from the northern desert, characterised by less than 100 mm of rain, to the semi-humid tropical one with rainfalls up to 1400 mm in the southern areas. As a consequence it shows a spontaneous vegetation passing from the desertic areas in the north, to the thorny steppes in the centre, to the southern wooden savannah. Here the papiro and the palm trees represent the typical vegetation covering the several small sandy islands of the Ciad Lake.
